ASSEKURATA Assekuranz Rating-Agentur GmbH is the first German rating agency that has specialised in the quality assessment of insurance companies from a customer's perspective. To date Assekurata provides solicited corporate ratings for insurance companies in the following classes of insurance: life insurance, private health insurance, casualty insurance/accident and legal expense insurance and statutory health insurances.

Assekurata is registered as CRA with ESMA since August 18th, 2011.

Since 1. January 2014, Assekurata is also a recognized ECAI across the whole European Union. 

On November 1st, 2016, the following mapping of ECAI ratings to the 6 Credit Quality Steps under the Standardized approach for Banks (Capital Requirements Regulation, CRR) and the 7 Steps under Solvency II for insurances in the EU entered into force:

Business model: Assekurata operates under the “issuer-pays” model, where the rated entity pays for the rating. Ratings and Ratings reports (in German) are publicly available at the agencies website.

Coverage: Assekurata covers exclusively insurance companies in Germany.

Assekurata provides exclusively published ratings on the platform. The rating will be published only if the insurer agrees, otherwise Assekurata maintains confidentiality about the proceeding and its result.

The ratings have a validity of 12 months and after this period will be updated or cancelled in the case of withdrawal. After a published rating has lost its validity, Assekurata publishes this fact in a press release, which you can find under the button “News”.

In addition to the ratings there are short rating reports uploaded, which are published for all and are free of any cost. It contains brief information on the separate evaluations.
