Banque de France is the French Central Bank, it is exmpted from registering as Credit Rating Agency in Europe. Through FIBEN, Banque de France makes available its ratings on French non-financial corporate.

Registration status in the EU: Banque de France is exempted from registering as CRA with ESMA. The exemption was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on June 19th, 2010.

Since 1. January 2014, Banque de France is also a recognized ECAI across the whole European Union.(until December 2013, Banque de France was formally recognized ECAI in 2 European Countries).

Business model:  While 8 National Banks have In-House Credit Assessment Systems (ICAS), which are eligible as a source to the ECF ECAF system, BdF is the only central bank having requested being exempted from registering as CRA.
