The key activity of the EUROPEAN RATING AGENCY, a.s. (ERA) is a preparation of rating assessments of organisations (municipalities, non-financial and financial institutions) and issues. These analytical assessments are developed for entities operating in diverse industries. ERA started its market operations in 2001 as a local rating agency in the Slovak republic. At present, ERA issues ratings mainly to entites on the Slovak market and some other EU countries.

ERA is registered as CRA with ESMA since July 30th, 2012.

Since 1. January 2014, ERA is also a recognized ECAI across the whole European Union. 

On November 1st, 2016, the following mapping of ECAI ratings to the 6 Credit Quality Steps under the Standardized approach for Banks (Capital Requirements Regulation, CRR) and the 7 Steps under Solvency II for insurances in the EU entered into force:
